Mr Barff m^ved— " That a Select Committee, consisting of Messrs Bonar, Caslaius^ Kennedy, and the mover, be appointed to consider and report upon the present system of collecting tolls upon the Christchurch road ; to report in ten of collecting tolls was eminently, unsatisfactory/. and> called, for! a most searching inquiry.— Mr Kennedy seconded, and Mr 'GumingisuppOTfedthemotidn^hißli^was passed withoutdi^sent., TOLLS ON THE MARSDBNAND CTLLPTON . KOADS. Mr Dungan^mpyed—V That the Council go into Committee to consider the necessity of revising the scale of tolls in force ony/the /Marsdeniand -Chfton road. r He ;Baid that the tolls ;pn> this road we're in excess, of those on .other roads. -Besides which ! the; road' was; in such a bad, state that it was almost impassable.
