WRECK OF A HOLYHEAD AND DUBLIN STEAMER.
London, June 18. The Shah of Persia, after having been escorted across the Channel by the ironclad fleet, has arrived in London, where he was met by the Prince of Wales, Prince Teck, Prince Christian, and the Duke of Cambridge. Enormous and enthusiastic crowds lined the streets. The preparations for entertaining the Shah during his visit are on a magnificent scale. The steamship Great Eastern is employed in laying the new Atlantic cable. . June 20. A virulent outbreak- of small-pox has occurred at Chatham. ;. Dissatisfaction is expressed at Mr Lowe's new Bank Act. . The Times describes the concession made to Baron Reufcer by the Shah of; Persia, placing the whole of the material resources of the Persian territory in the Baron's hands for a period of seventy years as evincing the Shah's sincerity and desire to introduce European civilisation. The Daily News also demonstrates the importance and comprehensiveness of the concessions granted. London, June 22. The Columbus, running between Holyhead and Dublin, struck on a rock near Holy head,-and became a wreck. There were 200 passengers on board, 15 of whom were drowned. Madrid, June 22. The Spanish Ministry have resigned, and Senor Margall will form a new Ministry. Paris, June 20. • The Government has demanded, and the Assembly authorised, the prosecution of M. Rane, deputy for Lyons, and an exmember of the Commune. . . The Mangish and Orenburg detachments of the Russian forces jffected a junction on May 26, and the Russians stormed Khodjalli on May 27tb. A flying, engagement also took place with the Khivans on June 1, which resulted in the capture of the fortified . town of Mangit. General,Kauffman then crossed the Amu Daria at appoint 35 miles west from the city of Khiva.
