A large meeting of the electors passed a vote of want of confidence in the Provincial Council representatives, after hearing their defence, for having supported a Loan Bill. Christchukch, June 20. In wheat, little doing — millere give 43 6d freely for prime samples ; flour, hard held, at Lll to Lll 10s ; barley, nominal, at 6s 6d ; rye grass, 6s 6d ; b.acon and hams, new cure, command excellent prices for equal proportions at 8d to 9d ; great demand for butter, at Is, stocks very low. At a well attended meeting of the New Zealand Shipping Company, it was resolved to increase the capital to a quarter of a million. The Chairman announced , that the Company had contracted with the j Colonial Government for the conveyance of emigrants and cargo on terms advantageous alike to the Government and the Company. Applications for 5600 of the new issue of shares had already been received from influential persons in the colony. A unanimous vote of thanks was passed to the directors.
