ARRIVAL OF THE RANGITOTO.

Melbourne, May 1. Telegrams have been received in all the Oolonioo from. Earl Ktraborloy, stating. that as the Colonies are not unanimous on the question of selecting a mail terminus, and as there is no time for consideration before, the termination of the present contract, the Peninsula and Oriental Company offer to continue the service for two years at present rates, or for three years at an annual reduction of L 12,000. The steamers to call at Glenelg in any case. Victoria will not accept the terms offered, but nothing will be done until the meeting of Parliament this month. Sydney at once accepted the terms offered for three years. The Duke of Genoa had a public landing. He visited Ballarat and other places. A human finger recently severed was found in the stomach of a fish caught in the bay. The yacht Secret has been wrecked inside the harbor. One life lost. Heavy gales prevailed along the coast. The German ship Alarous has been released from quarantine. The passengers are still at the sanatory (station, and will remain there till Monday, The Theatre Royal Proprietary paid a dividend at the rate of 8 percent, per annum. Several cases of suicide and accidents have occurred. Rumored opposition to the Government on the meeting of Parliament, but it is unlikely to be anything serious, as this is the last session before dissolution, Howard Spensley has resigned his seat for Portland. He is absent in England.
