Private advices announce that the yield from a crushing 'of Bt6ne from' the tVnlte Boy Reef, Black B,oy, Tasmania, was ftog 6dwt. Within about a mile' of the White Boy Reef is situated the Derby, the last crushing from which gave 1950z from about 140 tons of stone. This gold has been taken to the Victorian Mint, ; and valued at L4os 5d per ounce. These returns haveimparted a remarkable impulse to the gold- mining interest in Tasmania — .so much so that- a-gentleinan closely-con-nected with the Fingal district has been despatched to Victoria with a view to obtaining the requisite experienced labor' to work these and other claims. It has been ascertained that as the sinking gets below the water level the stone increases in richness, a circumstance which tends to confirm the hypothesis promulgated by geologists with respect to the formations in which gold may be expected to be found in that Colony. - if.
