The steamer Albion, having been tendered at Hokitika, returned to the roadstead yesterday morning, and had the same service, done hero. ' She landed seven passengers, and shipped twenty, with a small consignment of gold, proceeding direct to Melbourne. ' The Tararua arrived off Hokitika yesterday morning. She is expected to be despatched from Greymouth to Nelson at eight o'cluck this morning, ; The Wnipara brought from Okarito to Hokitika a few passengers aud 153 ounces] of gold. Tne s.s. Alhnmbra, on her last passage from Melbourne to the Bluff, and when nearing tho New Zealand Coast, encountered a tcirilic north-cast gn)e of 12 hours' duration, during which lo out of 20 valuable draught horses died. Tbe long continuing drought, say the Times, has so reduced the current in the river that Captain Kiley avers at low water it might be carried through an ordinary head race.
