The Torres Straits contract provides for a nine-knot service between Singapore and Brisbane for a sum of L2< 1,000. The Sydney-owned schooner Challenge has arrived as a prize to H.M.B. Basilisk. She Was seized iv Torres Straits for having Polynesian natives on board without being licensed. The schooner Matilda, from M'Leay to Sydney is missing, and is supposed to have foundered.
