DISTINGUISHED VISITORS.
The expected visit of Dr Moran is looked forward to with feelings of pleasureable anticipation by members of the Roman Catholic Church in the several districts of the Grey Valley, and preparations are being made to give the Bishop a suitable reception. Mr Commissioner Seed, the permanent head of the Customs Department in the Colony, visited the conntry districts last week. This gentleman's visit gave rise to much speculation as to the cause of it. Whatever the object may be, the result has left a painful feeling of disappointment in the breasts of some of the worthy citizens of Ahaura, who fondly hoped the Commissioner would be so taken aback at the signs of commercial activity visible in that important town, to say nothing of the magnificence of its public buildings, that he would then and there declare the Ahaura a port oi entry, but he didn't.
