[condensed prom west coast times.] Monday, February 10. The Hon. J. A. Bonar was voted to the chair. PETITIONS. Mr Smith presented a petition from a number of inhabitants of Greymouth, respecting the Omotumotu road. The petition was read and received. Mr Smith presented a petition from the landowners in the Omoturaotu Valley praying that a road might be made through the same. The petition was read and received: COUNTY GOVERNMENT OFFICERS. Mr Oumeng moved—" That the Chairman be requested to furnish a return of all officers paid direct by the County Government, showing their name, office, and length of time they have each been in the service of the County." The motion was seconded by Mr O'Donovan', and after some discussion was carried on a division in which Messrs Barff and Kennedy alone voted against it. GREENSTONE TOWNSHIP. Mr Dcjngan moved — "That this Council recommends that notices be served on the holders of business licenses residing iv the Greenstone old Township, informing them that they are at liberty to occupy sections in the New Township up to the 28th February, and that as soon as convenient after that date steps will be taken to have unoccupied sections in the New : Township sold by auction. And further, this Council requests the Governor's Delegate to exempt from occupation, under section 10 of the Gold Fields Act, all that portion of the Crown Lands »— == U ™ 1.-, nil m „1^ 1) Ihe motion was seconded by Mr Barff and passed without dissent. TRACK FROM MARSDEN TO MAORI CREEK. Mr Dungan moved— "That in the opinion of this Council the prayers of the petitioners from the New River District, > I relative to the widening of the track between Marsden and Maori Creek into a dray-road, be referred to the Public Works Committee."' The motion was seconded by Mr Barff and passed without dissent. In consequence of the illness of the Chairman, the other business was postponed, and the Council adjourned until Wednesday evening.
