The steamer Kennedy arrived on Wednesday morning from Westport. She had been expected for Borne days, and her probable dates of arrival and departure were the subject of considerable interest to intending passengers, but, as usual, not a single item of information Was furnished as to one or other by her owners. The extraordinary policy pursued by these gentlemen, of driving their boats up and down the coast, without consulting anybody's interest but their own, and without communicating to the public what heed only cost a sixpenny telegram, has been previously referred to, and the present trip of the Kennedy is only a further illustration of what has long existed. It is questionable if, by pursuing the plan they do, the owners in any degree consult their own interests, and they certainly do not consult the interests of their clients. ; On this trip the Kennedy's departure f»om N«lson was delayed by a variety of causes. There was a strike among the hands for an increase of pay per month. Substitutes were found for them, hue the substitutes were subjected to some influences and went ashore, delaying the vessel another tide . A f ter this little difficulty had heeri*got over, and after the vessel had proceeded on her vojage as far as Separation Point, some fault in the boiler was 'discovered, and she had to return to Nelson for repairs, which port she finally left early on Monday morning.
