THE HOKITIKA EXHIBITION.

In a reoent number of the West Coast Times it was mentioned that this project having been taken up by a few gentlemen on a practical basis, there was every pro^ spect of its being carried out. Since then the Committee have been working very zealously to .attain that object, and all they now require from the public is a* plentiful supply of exhibits to render the Exhibition a success. They have .them- , selves already made provision for some "| articles ; but to make the Exhibition attractive to visitors, it is essentialUthat the people should. take an active interest in rendering it so. By communicating with Greymouth* Ross, Greenstone, and other places, the Committee have obtained promises of assistance in the direction referred to, but obviously they rely chiefly for aid upon what may be done in Hokitika. Exhibits entrusted to the Committee will receive every care," arrangements having been already made to ensure. their Bafety. Amongst these we may mention that an iron safe has been provided for the deposit of articles of value, and a person will remain in charge all night, during the continuance of the Exhibition. We need not point out to our local manufacturers — however limited the range may be— the advantage they would derive, in the way of aavert|se, : merit, by exhibiting specimens, of their manufaetureY Independently! of the notice which such exhibits Will attracj from visitors to the Exhibition, such, public mention will, ho' doubt, be made of them as cannot but prove 'advantageous to the exhibitors. Qf fruits, "flowera, plants, and btKer products, there is every prospect of a very good show. " '"
