LATEST TELEGRAMS.
[NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Dec. 10. The Government received a telegram to-day from Dr Featherston, dated Nov. 23, in answer to a telegram from the Government on Not. 2, in which he states that .1.866 souls have left -the United "Kingdom since September 19, as emigrants for New Zealand. He state's that the regulations are working well, and that he is relaxing them wherever necessary. He is in a position to send to Ofcago 1720 emigrants, to Canterbury 1600, to Marlborough 140, to Auckland 750, to Napier 850, to Wellington and adjacent Provinces 1450 ; total, 6516 ; consististiug; of — English, 3750 ; Irish, 850 ; Scotch, 570 ; foreigners, 1340. The Scotch agency has never been interfered with. Mr Auld will send to Otago emigrants from the Clyde. Irish emigrants are flowing in freely. A central office with a sub-agency has been established under Mr Farnel at Belfast since June.. , • -.;• The Cagli Opera Company played to a full house last night, and sailed for the Bouth at midnight per Wellington. They intend making a. stay upon their return. The Governor and Lady Bowen proceed south in the Luna on Thursday. Napier, Dec. 10. The sheep fair will be held in February, and promises to be a great success. Between 700 and 100 entries have already been made.
