GREY DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

A meeting of the Hospital Committee was held at Gilmer's Hotel on Wednesday evening. The members present were — Messrs Masters, Kennedy, Smith, Greenwood, Maclean, Gilmer, King, Kenrick, and Kevell. , The Treasurer reported that 'he had received Lll 10s and Lll 3s as payment from patients, the Nelson subsidy for September, L 7 Is from the Red Jack's Benevolent Society, a donation of L 2 12s from the Assembly Ball Committee, and IA from Mr Warden Whitefoord for tickets sold. The credit balance in the Bank he reported to be L 9. He further reported that the Westland subsidy for the past six months had not been paid, and that the subsidy from Nelson for October and November were also due. With regard to the latter he explained that payment had not been made in con.sequence of the accounts having returned with inquiries as to an extra charge, which had been incurred by the erection of a female ward. The total amount due by the two Governmonts was LB6O 3s, and the liabilities of the Committee, up to the lsfc of September, were L 693 7s Bd. • Messrs Masters, Arnott, Reid, and King, were appointed as a deputation to wait upon the County Chairman to urge upon him the necessity for the immediate payment of the overdue subsidy, and to represent to him that it would be impossible to admit any more patients unless payment of the subsidies were made. Among other resolutions, it was agreed to by the Committee to have a thousand tickets printed for next year, and to distribute a hundred copies of the new rules in the outlying districts. Mr Masters was appointed one of the Visiting Committee, in place of Mr Kennedy. A letter was received from Callaghan's Creek sending in the names of the subcommittee for the current year. The3d were the principal items of the business before the Committee.
