TLelisavy sea catised by fchesoutti-weslerly gale of Tuesday soon subsided, and yesterday tho bar was unusually smooth. The s.s. Kennedy, from Nelson and Westpor*, by way of Hokitika, was the only arrival, and the St. Kilda, for Wanganui, was the only departure. The as. Wallabi arrived safely at Port Chalmers from the Bluff tinder temporary repairs, and was placed in the floating dock for survey. Substantial repairs are recommended. The late accident to the Phoebe occurred before crossing the Mannkau bar. The con-' necting rod bolt gave way, in consequenco of which Lhe cylinder cover was broken. The engines were immediately disconnected, and tbe steamer returned at once to the wharf. The damage sustained is not important.
