The surf which succeeded the late storm from tbe south-west, was sufficiently subdued yestorday to permit of tho departure of the steamer Wal'ace for Westport, but the St. Kilda did not sail. She will probably do so to-flay. and at least one expected arrival is the Kennedy, which passed this port yesterday, and returns hen<-e from Hokitika.
