la Auckland there appears to be a revival of intereat in racing. Some time ago a numbfir of gentlemen formed themselves into a company for the purchase and renovation of the Ellerslie race-coarse, situate near Auckland. Since the formation of the company a large sum has been laid out in tbo erection of a grand stand, and now, according to a northern contemporary, " the coarse is to be enlarged and improved in such a manner as to render it without exception the finest course in this hemisphere, and second to few even iv Great Britain." The course will be one mile and a quarter in length, and oval in form, the curves being extremely easy. It is expected that the course will be completed during the first week in December, and it is intended that a good race meeting should be held on the Ist and 2nd January, 1873. The sum of LSOOO has been expended upon the purohas* and preparation of the course.
