COMMERCIAL.
Grkt River Argus Office, Thursday evening. The amount of revenue received at tho C jstoms on goods passed for home consumption to-day was £44 Is 4d. CHRKTCHiTBcn.— Tho Times of tho 18th reports : —
The gram market remains entirely without any movement, stocks being so very low. Wheat is nominally of better value, and 5a to 5s 2d is now quoted, without, however, leading to business. Flour remains at Ll2, but the millers seem disposed to advance their quotations, and will no doubt do so very quickly if the Australian markets continue to show the same firmness. Oats are in pteady request, at 2s 3d to 2s 4d for local use ; out exports for the week have been very limited. Batter is rapidly falling in value, and 7d is now the outside quotation. Cheese is also declining, and holders are more anxious to effect sales at 7d. Hams and bacon remain at 7 Jd to Bd. Tho quotation for beef is 20s to 22s Gd, .but is merely nominal, as prices havo as yet scarcely come to their proper level for tho summer. Taking West Coast prices, however, as our rule, we can scarcely see how high prices can be main* tamed on this side while fat stock are plentiful
