A Chemical Preparation of Phosphorus, with the Vegetable Alkaloids, Quinia, Cypripeden, Xanthoxylin, &c. r Discovered, introduced, and extensively prescribed by Charles Leslie Bright, jSI.D., Resident Surgeon to St. Mary's Hos>ital, London. This Phosphatic combination is pronounced by the most eminent members of the Medical Profession to be unequalled for its power in replenishing the vitality of the body by its supplying all the essential constituents of the blood and nerve substance, and for developing all the powers and functions of the system to the highest degree. It is agreeable to the palate, and innocent in its action, while retaining all its extraordinary properties ; .and as a specific, surpassing all the known therapeutic agents of the day for the speedy and permanent cure of — Nervous prostration * Shortness of breath Liver complaints Trembling of the Palpitation o£ the hands and limbs heart • Impaired nutrition Dizziness . The action of the Phosphodyne is twofold— on the one hand increasing the principle which constitutes nervous energy, and on the' other the tnosi powerful blood and flesh generating ageni known ; therefore a marvellous medicine foi renovating impaired and broken down con stitutions. It quickly improves the functioi of assimilation to such a degree, that when for years an emaciated, anxious, cadaverous; and semi-vital condition has existed, thj flesh will rapidly increase in quantity anc firmness, and the whole system return to i state of robust health. The Phosphodyne acts electrically upor the organisation ; for instance, it assists na ture to generate, that human electricity whicl renews and rebuilds the osseous, muscular nervous, membranous, and organic systems It operates on the system . without excitinj care or. thought upon the individual as t< the process. It moves the lungs, liver, heart kidneys, stomach, and intestines, withahar mony, vigor, yet mildness, unparalleled ii medicine. The Phosphodyne gives back to the humai structure, in a suitable: form, thephosphori or animating element of life, which has boei wasted, and exerts an important influence directly on the spinal marrow and nervou: system, of a nutntiye, tonic, and invigbrat ing character; maintaining that buoyan energy of the brain and muscular systen which renders the mind cheerful, brilliant and energetic, entirely overcoming that dull inactive, and sluggish disposition wbicl many persons experience in all theii actions. The beneficial effects of the Phosphodyn< are frequently shown from the first day o: its administration, by a remarkable increast of nervous power, with a feeling of vigor an( comfort to which the patient has long beqi unaccustomed. Sir Charles Locock, Physical Accoucheui to Her Majesty the <4 ue , en > stated at a meeting of the Royal Mediqal aud Chjrur^ical Society, that in thirteen cases of debilitj and. nervous prostration he had effected permanent cures by the use of Dr. Briyht's Phosphodyne. Sir Win. Ferguson, Bart., F.R.S., Surgeon to Her Majesty the Queen, says— " I have repeatedly prescribed Dr. Bright's Phosphodyne and. found it an agreeable and beneficial remedy. . I have but one objection regarding itj and that is, the elaborate process required in the preparation will not allow of the retail price being within the reach of all classes." • Dr Lancaster, the Eminent Coroner", says ' — " Dr Bright's Phosphodyne is calculated to entirely supersede iron, mercury, sarsaparilla, quinine, and cod liver oil." DrR. Quain, F.R.C.P., Physiqjan to the Hospital" for Consumption, Brompton, remarks— "lt cannot be doubted that this Phosphatic preparation will henceforth rank foremost in therapeutics ; it generates all the important elements of the human frame, the peculiar character of this substance fitting it for vital uses." Sir T. Lawrence says—" I have found Dr. Bight's Phosphodyne an excellent remedy in s' in diseases. I .presume it is by oxydi-8-iV.on." ' Professor Syme says—" The effects of the Phosphodyne in obstinate cases of disease are as astonishing as perplexing." Dr Handheld Jones, P.R.G.b., F.R.S., Physician to St. Mary's Hospital, says in Atrophy and General Debility, Phosphodyne is a most admirable remedy ; it invigorates the nutritive functions and increases the Vital Energy— " it not only acts as an absorbent," but retards or repairs the waste of tusue, and restores theKutritive Functions to their normal condition. The " Lancet" considers the Phoaphodyne one of the most important contributions made to Materia Medica, during the last century.
