One case has occurred at Simla, but the disease was contracted on the way there. — During the first half of the current year, 1404 wild animals were killed in the Central Provinces at a cost to Government of 12,596rs These included 194 tigers (six n-i'iitors), 464 panthers and leopards, 2 "56 :>t is. 254 wolves, and 236 hyienas. — Tin Viceroy has nominated two Europeans and one native to compete amongst themselves for a vacancy in the Financial Department. — Severalmoro court-martials on soldiers, for striking their superior officers, have been held.— The dengue . fever has made its appearance at Penang. —Between sixty and seventy thousand pounds of bark will be collected at the Government cinchona plantations at Darjiling this year.— The High Court of the Punjab has decided that plough bullocks, gear used for irrigating, and. spinningwheels of women, are not to be sold .under an attachment. The tiled huts of agriculturists are also to be gonerally exempt from sale.— Colonel Roddam has successfully introduced the cochineal insect into Mysore. The Gaekwar of Baroda has given a grand ball and a series of wild-beast fights to some European visitors and residents. — A portion of the jewelry of the ex-Empress of the Urench has arrived at Bombay for sale.— One of the leaden of the pirates who attacked the s.s Cashmere took refuge in Bahrein, ' but, being a Bahrein subject, he was seized by the chief of that island, who says he holds him at the disposal of tho British authorities.— Sergeant Collins, an inspector of tho Persian telegraph line, was killed by robbers on the 23rd inst., while inspecting the line. That part of the country has been dangerous since the famine commenced. — Part of the 56th Regiment at Puna has been moved into camp on account of cholera. — The trials of itie rhea fibre machines at Saharanpur commenced on Tuesday last.— The 37th Regiment at Mianmir have been sent into camp on account of cholera. — During the month of Juno last there were 674 deaths from snake-bites and wild animals in the North- Western Provinces. — Dengue has now spread to Silhot and the Pnnjaub.— The 2-19lh Regiment has been moved into camp from Allahabad, in consequence of an outbreak pf cholera. — A report has reached Kabul that the Russians have taken two towns belonging to tho Atalik Gaa't of Yarkand. — Russian spies aro said to have arrived^at Chari Emagh, in Kandahar, disguised as Jews. — The Contagious Diseases Act is to be enforced at Agra.— The Maharajah of Jodhpur, with four thousand cavalry, four thousand infantry, and some guns, was, at the date of the last news, ten miles from Nagor, the town seized by his rebellions son. The latter had refused au offer of pardon, except unconditionally. The Political Agent was with the Mahrajah'a troops. — Captain Lindsay, < lately acquitted by Court-martial of being drunk on duty, is again being, tried for being drunk in quarters.
