JUSTICE !
[to the editor.] Sir, — Will you permit me to draw the attention of your readers to an act of cruel and illegal persecution on the part of the police of this ;district. I hold a. miner's right aud reside at Bell Hill. In the course of my work as a miner, I, a few days ago obtained a few small nuggets, and, as the nearest available place, came into No Town to dispose of them. I was immediately arrested upon suspicion of having stolen them, aud at once lodged in the common gaol. I was subsequently set at liberty on my own recognisances, and am now of course lying under the stigma of such an accusation. Now, Mr Editor, is this justice, or is it a legal act ? I am a married man with a family, and am dragged f rom my home and afterwards informed that I have no remedy, it being all a mistake, a proof of which is the fact of my being set at liberty. I am, &c, Nathaniel J. Lowe. (Miner's Right, No. 3382) Bell Hill, No Town.
