The p.s. Lyttelton, Scott master, arrived in the roadstead yesterday morning from Nelson direct, and crossed the bar at 1 p.m. She has made a long trip, owing to adverse weather. Wallace was obliged to put back to Hokitika from her intended voyage to Martin's Bay on Sunday last, owing to the heavy gale that was blowing}, during that afternoon, and the high sea th»t was running at the same time. The vessel had nearly reached Wanganui, but could not steam against the strong current without exhausting her supply of coal. Captain Palmer, therefore, deemed it advisable to return, and wait a more favorable opportunity. The Wallace arrived in the roadstead on Sunday night, and anchored, and crossed the bar on Monday morning. She was to leave yesterday if the aca were sufficiently smooth. Messrs J. Chesney and Co's fine brigantine Aborigine arrived in the Hokitika roadstead, from Melbourne direct, on Monday morning.
