She attempted also to drown a girl nine years of age, but the latter escaped and raised an alarm. WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. A deputation appointed by the Press Conference interviewed the Premier and the Colonial Secretary this evening. [They presented the resolutions, and urged the views of the Conference. The Premier admitted the desirability, in the interests of the public, of reducing wire charges to \ the lowest possible figure, and without ■ pledging Ministers to specify the re due- ' tion asked for, promised to consider the ; matter favorably and return an early; answer.
