[NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Ihtebcarotil, Oct. 32. The show of entires to-day was a great success. Visitors say it was the best display of draught sires ever seen in the Colony. Michael Clear was discharged for attempted suicide, on his giving surety that he would come up for sentenca when called upon. He did not find sureties, and made a fresh attempt to cut his throat in gaol, Christohurph, Oct. 12. A deep sea fishing company has been established, with a capital of LI 000, in LI shares. Napier, Oct. 12. The schooner Esther grounded while entering the harbor, and received floine damage. Colenso and Newton are contesting the vacant seat in the Council.
