London, Aug. 29, Afternoon. A National Bank of New Zealand is announced with a capital of two millions, and will absorb the Bank of Otago. A .resolution sanctioning the registration in the colonies of shares in the Union Bank 13 confirmed. It is intimated that a motion will be made rescinding it at the January meeting. Proceedings are instituted against the British and Australian .Telegraph Company for failing to tile a list of shareholders according to Act. The injury to the submarine cable at the Australian end is attributable to abrasion by coral formation. The repairing steamer lost her grappling gear, and was compelled to return to Java for coal and material. The agitation against the high price of meat is spreading, and the demand for Australian increases daily. Tichborne demonstrations continue. The disquietude created by the failure of Gledstones and Co. for a million and a half is subsiding.
