At a meeting of tho supporters of the Tichborne claimant, it was asserted that one of the crew of the Bella had been discovered. Stanley narrated the particulars of his journey, and the .discoveries of Livingstone, before the Geographical section of the British Association. He met with an enthusiastic reception. On the 17th, serious rioting took place in Belfast between the Catholics aud Protestants. A number of houses were wrecked. It continued |€uring the next three days with* disastrous results. The constables fired on the people, arid the streets were filled with troops, who endeavored to keep tbe rioters apart. This continued all day on the 19th to such extent that all business was suspended. Specials were sworn in, and firearms freely used. The police, while searching for arms, were fired on, and one killed. Several thousand troops and constables aro in town. On the 22nd the town became quieter. Th& Daihj JVmps received a telegram from Homo reporting a violent discussion between the Pope and Cardinal Antonelli. The latter threatened to resign unless the Pope treated with the Italian Govern* ment. It has been semi-officially stated at Washington that, since the exclusion of tbe indirect claims, the proceedings at Geneva have been favorable to America. Several awards have been made, and it is probable the gross sum will be awarded to America ultimately. The potato disease is alarmingly prevalent. : It is expected the Geneva arbitration will not terminate before the Ist September. London, Aug. 28. * Tho North-Eastern Railway goodsshed, Leeds, and North London Railway station at Kentish Town have been burnt. The London bakers threaten to strike. Madrid, Aug. 28. Tho Spanish elections resulted in the return of 290 supporters of the Government, GO republicans, and 27 conservatives. Geneva, Aug. 29. The arbitrators settled the principle of indemnity claims. It is probable the amount to be awarded will be between three and four millions.
