The s.s Kennedy, from Nelson, Westport, and Hokitika, arrived in port on Saturday. She remained in port yesterday, and will have to-day on her return northern trip. Tho schooner Sarah and Mary sailed with cargo of coal for Lyttelton on Saturday. Tho schooner lv, Captain Pearn, which was towed in by the Dispatch on Saturday's tile, left Port Philip Heads on the Bth inst. she had light variable winds throughout the voyage, arriving off the port on Friday evening. She brings a full cargo, chiefly consigned to her owners, Messrs Glenn Brothers. AVith rceard to Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood, and Co.'s steamers, the present arrangement seems to be :—The Rangitoto arrived at tho Bin IF from Melbourne on Saturday, aud tho Albion left the same day for Melbourne direct. The Albion is expected to arrive hero on tbo 30th inst, from Melbourne direct, when she will be despatched for Nelson and other Kew Zealand ports. The Rangitoto is expected to sail from this port fur Melbourne on the Ist of October, and the Claud Hamilton on the . 17th. Tho contemplated alteratiou in the s.s Murray will now be proceeded with, which will necessitate the laying up, for a time, of this favorite West Coast trader. It is now intended, we believe, to lengthen her some i ltift amidships, which, in addition td increasing her carrying capacity, will also permit of enlarging the passenger accommodation of the steamer. Tbe above alterations will be done at the workshop of Messrs N. Edwards and Co, where we learn that their steamer Wallace has also been receiving some improvement, in her original design, in the ehapo of deck houaep, which will add much to the convenience and comfort of passengers by this boat.— Colonist.
