Chrtstchcrch.— The Lytldton Times, of Saturday last, reports :— The wheat and flour market remains quiet, and there is no alteration in value to notice since last weok. California advices appear to have had a depressing effect, as the reports of largo shipments going forward to Sydney are expected to weaken quotations in Australia. A few small sales of wheat are reported at 4s 9d to 4s lOd, but stocks remain light, and very little is coming forward from tho country districts. Flour is in over supply, and quotations are with difficulty maintained. Oats meet with better support, and sales have been made at 2s Id. A few very primo samples have touched 2s 2tl. Small parcels of barley are picked up eagerly at 6s 3d to 6s Gd, but this market is exceedingly bare. Cheese and butter remain scarce, tho former at Bd, and the latter at Is I<l. Hams and bacon are without any alteration, at 7tl to 7i<l. Regarding stock and stations, the same paper says --The weather during the past week has beon remarkably fine, and the pastures have assumed a beautiful green appearance, although few of them, as yet, afford a full bite for stock. Business continues very liri.sk, ami stock of all kinds is changing hands in considerable numbers. At the yards, on Wednesday, the number of sheep was modcrato, and everything of good quality was well competed for. The highest price reached was 16$ Ctl for some good merino wethers, from Racecourse Hill, the ewes from the same station making 14s. Our quotation for mutton remains at 3£d to 4d per Hi, and we do not expect to see it go any higher, as sheep from paddocks will soon be coming in ; and, as the season is very favorable, in a few weeks the supply will bo ample. In cattle, there was a large number brought forward, chiefly stores, nearly all which were in very good condition for the season of the year. The number was in excess of demand, and some were turned out unsold, as the price did not reach owners' value. The supply of fat cattle was moderate, both in number and qnality, and prices did not indicate any alteiation in value, which we quote at 25s to 30 per lOOlbs.
