PROTECTED BY ROYAL LETTERS PATENT. Dated October 11th, 1869. Under Distinguished Patronage. "TVB. BRIGHT'S PHOSPHODYNE. A Chemical Preparation of Phosphorus, with the Vegetable Alkaloids, Quinia, Cypripeden, Xanthoxylin, &c. Discovered, introduced, and extensively prescribed by Charles Lkslik Bright, IM.D., Resident Surgeon to St. Mary's Hospital, London. This Phosphatic combination is pronounced by the most eminent members of the Medical Profession to be unequalled for its power in replenishing the vitality of the body, by its supplying all the essential constituents of the blood and nerve subafcauce, and for developing all the powers and functions .of the system to the highest degree. It is agreeable to the palate, and innocent in its action, while retaining all its extraordinary properties ; and as a specific, surpassing all the known therapeutic agents of the day for the speedy and permanent cure of — Nervous prostration Shortness of breath Liver complaints Trembling of the Palpitation of the hands and limbs heart. Impaired nutrition Dizziness Mental and physical Noises in the head depression and ears Consumption (in its Loss of energy and incipient or first appetite stages only) Hypochandria Eruptions of the skin Female complaints Impaired sight and General debility memory Indigestion Nervous fancies Flatulence Impoverished blood Incapacity for study Nervous debility in or business all its stages Sick headache Premature decline Lassitude and all morbid conditions of the system arising from whatever cause. The action of the Phosphodyne is twofold— on the one hand increasing the principle which constitutes nervous energy, and on the other the mosi powerful blood and nesh generating ageni known ; therefore a marvellous medicine foi renovating impaired and broken down con stitutions. It quickly improves the functioi of assimilation to such a degree, that when for years an emaciated, anxious, cadaverous and semi-vital condition has existed, thi flesh will rapidly increase in quantity anc firmness, and the whole system return to i state of robust health. The Phosphodyne acts electrically upoi the organisation ; for instance, it assists na tare to generate that human electricity, wind renews and rebuilds the osseous, muscular nervous, membranous, and organic systems It operates on the system without excitinj care or thought upon the individual as t tho process. It moves the lungs, liver, heart kidneys, stomach, and intestines, with a hai mouy, vigor, yet mildness, unparalleled i: medicine. The Phospliodynegives back to thehuma structure, in a suitable form, thephosphori or animating element of life, which has bee wasted, and exerts au important iniluenc directly on the spinal marrow and nervou system, of a nutritive, t»aic, and invigorai ing character ; maintaining that buoyan energy of the brain and muscular systei which renders the mind cheerful, brilliani and energetic, entirely overcoming that dull inactive, and sluggish disposition whic many persons experience ia all tbei actions. The beneficial effects of tho Phosphodyn are frequently shown from the first day c its administration, by a remarkable jncreaa of nervous power, with a feeling of vigor an comfort to which the patient has long bee unaccustomed. Digestion is improved, th appetite increases wonderfully, the bowej become regular, the eyes brighter, the ski clear and healthy, and tho hair acquire strength, snowing the importance of th action of the Phosphodyne on the organs c nutrition. Sir Charles Locock, Physical Accoucheu to Her Majesty the t^ueen, stated at a meet ing of the Royal Medical aiid Chirurgica Society, that in thirteen cases of debilit; and nervous prostration he had effected pet manent cures by the use of Dr. Bright' Phosphodyne. * Sir Wm. Ferguson, Bart., F.R.S., Sui geon to Her Majesty the Queen, says — " have repeatedly prescribed Dr. Bright' Phosphodyne ana found it an agreeable am beneficial remedy. I have but oneobjectio: regarding it, and that is, the elaborate pre cess required in the preparation will not allo\ of the retail price being within the reach o all classes." Dr Lancaster, the Eminent Coroner, say — "Dr Bright's Phosphodyne is calculates to entirely supersede iron, mercury, sarsapa . rilla, quinine, and cod liver oil." Dr R. Quain, F.R.C.P., Physician to th Hospital for Consumption, Brompton, re marks — " It cannot be doubted that thi Phosphatic preparation will henceforth rani foremost in therapeutics ; it generates al the important elements of the human frame the peculiar character of this substance fit ting it for vital uses." Sir T. Lawrence says—" I have found Dr Bright's Phosphodyne an excellent remedy ii skin diseases. I presume it is by oxydi sation." Professor Syme says — ." The effects of th< Phosphodyne in obstinate cases of discasi areas astonishing as perplexing." Dr Handfield Jones, P.R.C.b., F.R.S., Physician to St. Mary's Hospital, says ir Atrophy and General Debility, Phosphodyni is a most admirable remedy ; it invigorate: the nutritive functions and increases th( Vital Energy — "it not only acts as an ab sorbent," but retards or repairs the wast< of tiisue, and restores the JtSutritive Functions to their normal condition. The "Lancet" considers tho Phoßphodync one of the most important contributions made to Materia Medica, during the last century.
