At the banco sittings to-day, the writ was set aside in the case Bank of New Zealand v. Tonks. In the appeal case Johnston v. Revell and Keating, the Magistrate was ordered to state a case for appeal. Napier, Sept. 16. The Ballarat brought 45 passengers for Auckland and 17 for Wellington. Only one infant died on board the Hodring. Mr Halcombe proceeds with the Scandinavians to found a settlement in the Forty-Mile Bush. Auckland, Sept. 16. The Nebraska sails for the South tomorrow afternoon. The Caledonian Company has lodged in the Bank HOOoz. Morrison, a publican, has started to interview the Maori King to obtain his assent to prospect for gold. Lyttelton, Sept. 16. Sailed— Canterbury, Spray, Lady Don, and Isabella, for Hokitika; Cleopatra, for Greymouth. Dunedin, Sept. 16. Arrived — Elderslee, with a cargo of tea from Foo*ohow-Foo : Mercury, from New York.
