On Saturday the s s Kennedy sailed for the North, and the Charles Edward left in the afternoon for Hokitika. The Lyttelton was unable to leave the latter port on Friday, in consequence of a dense fog prevailing, but was expected to get out on Saturday. She was chartered to convey a «argo of timber to Westport. A considerable improvement has taken place in the channel and also the bar of Hok'tika, which has lately been rather indifferent, and making it difficult to navigate. The Lioness crossed the bar several times on Thursday afternoon and yesterday morning, - without experiencing the least difficulty. — W. C. Times, of Saturday.
