Wellington, Aug. 29. Mr Yogel spoke last evening for five! hours. He replied- at 1 great length to most of the Opposition Bpeeclies, defending the Government with reference to all the points on which the Government was r. 3ailed. : He showed that after paying off LIOO,OOO of deficiency, bills on Saturday last, there was a balance of L 318,000 to the credit of the Colony at! the Bank, and that, after paying vail' liabilities to the end/ of October, it was estimated, there .would be a csedit balance i! of Lll 6,000 to the Consolidated Fund. ! He announced 1 that at the end of the! sessioh Ministerial portfolios would be 1 re-distnbuted, and that the office of Resident Minister for the Middle Island wo^ld be i abolished, as the maintenance, of the two departments worked unsatisfactorily. • •,.■;■■ ; • ; ' ~:.j Mr Fitzherbert spoke for upwards of three hours today.
