THE TREASURER'S FINANCIAL STATEMENT.
Wellington, 7.57 p.m. Mr Yogel has just risen to make his financial statement. He explained that he did so in the face of .a vote of want of confidence, because he had promised it for to-day before Mr Stafford gave notice, and because, since jkhen the Government supporters had expressed a desire to have all information in the possession of the Government before them when discussing Mr Stafford's motion. If his statement proved useful to the Opposition during I the debate they were welcome ; to it, but he did not think that the contingency of its being useful to successors was likely to arise.
