It is said that the Government will shortly introduce a Bill to unite Westland and the South-West Nelson Gold Fields under a form of County Governmeilt. Nelson, Aug. 14. At a large meeting at which 'were present 400 persona, resolutions were passed expressing disappointment at the action of the Government regarding the Foxhill Railway, and urging the necessity of completing the first section, which would open a large tract of rich land for mining and settlement. • Auckland, Aug. 14. At an adjourned meeting at which most of the speakers were Provincialists, an amendment on the previous motion, and condemnatory of the Government, was passed, the concluding words being that a change was required to secure prompt, efficient, and economical administration. James Morrin has been fined LSO for a breach of the Stamp Act, by signing an unstamped share transfer. The Thames district is going to petition for increased representation.
