A. providential; escape from a serious, if not fatal accident, occurred one evening last week to two children who were in one of the coaches from Arahura to Hokitika. As the matter has been' related to the West Coast Times, a wedding party was going down to Hokitika, and just as the coach started the horses bolted. With a courage that cannot be siifficietitiy commended, tne driver jumped off, leaving the horses, coach, and passengers to arrange the affair:between them. The passengers, however, .were, not to be outdone iv gallant bravery, for they contrived to scramble out also, leaving, with a humanity quite beyond praise, the -two children in, the vehicle. . . The horses galloped on, and, having ab length expended, thair supcrfluence of ep lit, trotted . up, to; the stables in Hold bik i, without having done any damage, although they passed several vehicles on their w; yibo town. The childrea. were" unhurt, 'though certainly somewhat scared; '■" .
