The first sitting of the Board for the present month was held on Tuesday. The following correspondence from Greymouth was read : — From the Town Clerk of Greymouth^ asking to have certain Municipal Reserves granted. > . . The , Chief Commissioner stated tha,t there were now hundreds of reserves, schedules of which had been sent by him, waiting in Wellington the sanction of the Governor. He had written On the subject early in July, but had receivod no From Mr W. M. Coopar, Greymouth, respecting two letters which he had previously sent to the Board, requesting to know whether they had been received. The Chief Commissioner said that the
latters referred to had gone to Melbourne in mistake,, and had. only just been received. He hadw^tten to Mr Cooper respecting the' subject matter of those letters to the effect that the Board could not entertain applications by letter. They must be made either personally or by agent... < ; From Mr W. M. Cooper, stating thai. he would make application in the manner indicated, • From the Town Clerk, Greymouth, conveying the regret of the Borough Council that the reserves referred to in the previous letter Were not included amongst those to be first gazetted, and requesting that they might be forwarded to the Government to deal with as soon as possible. The Chief Commissioner said he intended to send up all the schedules of reserves, though as there were already so many in Wellington, he could scarcely see * the use in doing so. Emma Bock, wife of Alfred Bock, applied to purchase section 295, Greymouth. Granted ; Ll2 paid. Peter Thomson completed his purchase of four acres of suburban land in block 62, Grey district. , Paid L 6. Mr Learmonth applied, on behalf of W.M. Cooper, Grey mouth, that tho Board allow part of a road reserve, not taken up by the road at present constructed, to be sold by auction. The Board could not grant the application, as it had no power to sell reserves; The Board ordered that a block of land at Blackwater Creek, on the Marsden and Greenstone road, be thrown open for sale as rural land, and that ten days 1 notice of intention to sell said land shall be given in the newspapers at Hokitika and Greymouth. The Board adjourned until Monday next. . '
