Gbsy Rivbr Argus Office, Friday evening. The. amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods passed for home consumption to-day was £131 13s Gd.
Christchuech.—The Lyjtdton Times, of the 27th ult, reports :— Breadstnffs remain very quiet, as no orders are coming forward, and the fanners are still too busy ploughing to come to town. The millers are gradually accumulating stocks of flour, but they still continue firm, in their demands for Ll3 for town brands. Wheat it in short supply ; bat as there are few or no buyers in the markets, quotations are irregular. Small sales were reported last week at 4s 9d to 4s 10d, but during the past few days no transactions have come under notice. In provisions, hams and bacon meet with a little inquiry at last week's rates. Cheese and batter are both very scarce; the former at Ejfl, and the latter in active request at 94d. Oar quotation tat beef remains at 20s per 1001 b,. with a decidedtendency upwards. Store cattle are in good demand for the seoaon of the year, and present appearances indicate a brisk trade in this class of stock when the spring sets in.
