Wellington, July 29. A meeting of -Superintendents and Provincial officers, sitting in the Assembly, has been held. All the Superintendents except Mr Ormond were present. A programme was drawn up and submitted to the Government, with the intirration that it would be insisted on. The chief feature of this demand is that the Superintendent appoint Government agents to carry on the Public Works under the powers of delegation provided by the Public Works Act, and that the Resident Minister for the Middle Island be abolished. The Ministry, it is. understood, will not accept these terms, or consent to entrust the delegated powers to all Superintendents, although willing to retain the discretionary power do so when advisable. The Cabinet is now considering its reply. If the Provincial party insist and defeat the Ministiy, the latter will probably ask for a dissolution. The Independent's London correspondent writes that on the 12th of April Colonel Fielding's Emigrant and Colonists Aid Corporation had only 1205 of % its 250,000 LI- shares taken up, and that only L 1240 of calls' had been paid.
