THE INANGAHUA REEFS.
[HERALD, JULY 27.]
The Golden Fleece Company, Shield, is shortly to be registered under the Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, as also the Vulcan Company, No 2 south, Adam Smith's. Mr Brennan has-been appointed legal mauager for both companies. The Golden Fleece are crushing at the Ajax Company's battery, and are likely to have an excellent washing up. The result is expected to give 2£oz to the ton, but will not be definitely known for ten days. ; On Wednesday another leader was crossed in the Anderson's tunnel, and found to contain very good gold. The leader is thicker than the one previously cut through -being fully 18in. wide, and the reef is expected to be struck every shift. When in fall working order the Company expect to be in a position with their present machinery to crush 120 tons weekly. There can be no doubt that the stone struck in the tunnel is a leader and not the main reef, as it is enclosed by hard rock without any slate formation. ,. I It is stated that the proprietors of the, North Star and Inglewood leases purpose entering into negotiations with Mr Coates, of Greymouth, to supply Bteam machinery and a crushing plant for the use of these two claims. The United Band of Hope, adjoining the Golden Hill, continue to raise very good stone from their shaft. '• + . The contractor for 'the erection of the machinery of the Energetic Company has commenced to clear the site selected- in Murray Creek, within easy distance of the tunnel. The latter is being proceeded with towards the Wealth of Nations' ground, and the reef is expected to be struck daily. A trial crushing of ten tons of Btone from this claim gave, the highly satisfactory yield of 4oz 6dwt to the ton. , » The Golden Hill Company, Kelly's line, are pushing on their tramway* to connect with the Westland battery. When completed crushing will be immediately commenced. About 600 tons of stone are to grass, and unusual facilities exist in this claim for obtaining a con? siderable quantity of stone at a small cost and quickly. It is intended by the Golden Bell Company to apply for a lease of their ground now held as an ordinary claim*. Operations in the claim are at present suspended. •
