Yesterday the ps Dispatch towed to sea the schooners Spray for Lyttelton, the Day Dawn for KaiApoi, and the Jupiter for Lyttelton. There were no arrivals. The steamer Charles Edward arrived at .midnight from Hokitika, and the Murray, from Westport, i* expected to arrive to-day. ■. The schooner Lady Don, from Lyttelton, arrived at Hokitika on Saturday. . The schooner Agnes Jessie, from Newcastle to Lyttelton, has put into Wellington, having on board the body of her master, H*rley, who was drowned when the schooner Vu lying in Guard Bay, having put in there ' through stress of weather. Mr Brewer, of Wanganui, has received a telegram from Auckland on Saturday, stating that the Go-ahead had experienced very rough weather on her voyage tip, and had lost fourteen head of cattle and ten sheep. A goodly number of timber-laden and other small craft arrived at Lyttelton on the 16th. The Aspssia, Maid of Ofcago, and Blackwall, arrived from Picton. The Ocean •Wave; from Auckland; Garibaldi, 1 from Hokitika ; Alert, from Havelock— all timberladen. ' Columbia, from Napier ; Florence, from" Greymouth jfr with coal. The Harbormaster at Lyttelton has re- ■ ceived the following telegram, dated Akaroa, 15th July :— " During the late gale a single pinnacle rock was discovered' half a mile ' south by west or thereabouts from the edge • of the outward reef, at the foot of the south head of Akaroa Harbor. There was no kelp . near. The discoverer, George Wright, who lives .there, is' a reliable authority, and reports that costal steamers often pass inside the spot. He watched the rock several times during the same day, and he thinks that it lies three fathoms deep at high water." Captain Sunkle says than four years ago his vessel touched it, and that he reported the fact to Captain Greaves.
