The ss Waipara left for Dunedin on Saturday morning. The ps Charles Edward arrived at Westport from Nelson on Monday last, but was compelled to keep to her moorings until .Thursday, 1 being unable to discharge her cargo in consequence of rain and tempestuous weather. On Tuesday night she ran to the Lagoon for shelter, remaining there until Thursday, vhen she steamed back to the wharf and discharged. She left for Greymouth direct on Thursday evening, but, when nearly abreast the Steeples, it was found that she ateerca badly from some mishap to. the rudder. As a precautionary measure Captain Whitwell put back; and re-crossing the bar in safety, brought the Charles Edward safely up to her moorings. She arrived here on Saturday morning, discharged cargo that day, and proceeded to Hokitika yesterday.
