About twelve months aso the rottenness of the piles, some of which had been actually eaten through, showed the necessity for repairs being effected without delay. Tenders were accordingly called for the work, and the contract was let to Messrs Dalgleish and Son for the sum of L 2193. In effecting the repairs, about 200 ft of the old piles were cut off at the level of the mud, and new red gum piles were driven in alongside of them.
