THE INANGAHUA REEFS.
[HERALD, JULY 13.] Another sample of stone from the Juat in Time claim, if anything richer than any s previously struck, was brought into town yesterday. A leader has been recently come across making into the main reef already obtained. The leader also contains very rich gold. Scrip in the Excelsior Company, Lyell, are steadily advancing, latest quotations S* ving the price at L 6. In a recent action ■ought by the company against Norman Mitaren for overdue calls, the company obtained a verdict for the amount and costs. . Scrip in the Anderson's Creek Gold Mining Company have participated in the healthy firmness which has prevailed during the past few days. Latest quotations show an advance of 20s per scrip, sales having been effected at LB. In No. 2 south, Rainy Creek, the shareholders have concluded a fresh contract for extending the tunnel an additional 60ft. An order "has been forwarded by the Ajax Company to Melbourne for steam ripples, in order to facilitate the action of the quicksilver in saving the gold. Mr J. Kflgour, on his recent visit, obtained the requisite dimensions; and on his return to Greymouth, on Wednesday, would lose no time in transmitting the order. The works in connection with the Buller road have progressed greatly during the recent favorable weather. On the section adjoining the steam saw mills cf Messrs Graham, Malfroy, and Company, gravelling has been commenced, and very stiortly the road to Boatman's will be open for foot and horse traffic. At the Anderoon'B Creek Quartz Mining Company's Claim, matters are progressing very favorably. At the machine site the contractors are busy erecting the machinery,* the greater portion of which is now landed on the ground, and the balance is expected during the ensuing week. Messrs Finlay, Cornfoot, and Co., who supply the batteries, &c., intend sparing no effort to expedite their erection, and are confident that their portion of the work will be finished within six weeks from the present date. The contractors are still pushing on the tunnel. On Wednesday last, a gold-bearing leader one foot thick was struck, containing gold-bearing quartz, and the main reef is expected to be reached hourly. The tramway shoot and paddock are being pushed on with all possible despatch, and the company expect to be crushing within two months.
