Gould, issued a pastoral admonition, which was read in all the Catholic churches, against Ministers and their Education policy. The political sermons, preached in Catholic churches are generally condemned by the .principal Catholics as well as others. The Ministers aro all returned by immense majorities. It was a great triumph. A disturbance was apprehended, but all passed off well. On Tuesday, the . 2nd July, the first messages were to-be sent by the overland line to Tennant's Creek, thence by horse express to Darling Waters— thirty business telegrams and several congratulatory messages, one to Queen Victoria, one to the Emperor of Germany, and another to President Grant. The foot and mouth disease is apparently stamped out. It is believed that Ministers have a large majority in the House, and also that Fraser, as representative in the Council of Commissioner of Public Works, will not be opposed. ■: Addresses were presented to Bishop Perry to-day, on the anniversary of the twenty-fifth day of the Episcopate. Watson, member for Lachlan, has given notice in the Assembly to move that the San Francisco monthly service be resumed. , Mr Braidley, one hundred and six years old has died in the Liverpool Asylum. The authorities at Noumea have been advised that two transports have left France with a thousand Communist prisoners. Three natives in the labor vessel Fox have been murdered at New Hebrides. Hargreaves, the Victorian gold discoverer, has asked for the sweepings of the Mint as a reward for public services. The Border Duties Bill has passed its second reading, after committee, with slight alterations. Adelaide, June 29. Baggott and Gilberts have taken a large run at Alice Springs, in the far North. A Bill has been introduced to alter the Constitution and. increase the number-of Ministers to six, to prevent the necessity of the Attorney-General sitting in the House. -••■■■ An offer has been received from Victoria to construct a transcontinental railway.
