[NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, July 2. Mr Harrison had an official interview to-day with the Minister of Public Works on the subject of the Brunner Coal Railway. The reply given was that the survey plans had not yet been completed; that instructions had been sent to Mr O'Connor, District Engineer, to push them on; and that, as soon as they were completed, immediate steps for the construction of the line would be taken. One of the Armed Constabulary attending the small-pox patient on Soames Island has been attacked by the same disease. Dr Bulmer has been sent to attend him. Proposals are mooted for the construction of a railway from Greymouth through the Grey Valley, connecting with the Canterbury Great Northern Line. Napier, July 2. The Rev. Mr Forrest, who has been appointed administrator of the Catholic diocese of Wellington, has been presented with a purse of 75 sovereigns by his congregation, and with a watch by the pupils of ; St- Mary's School. • ■ ■ . . Auckland, July 2. The Harbor Board have included Wellington in the list of infected ports, and will allow no foreigner to anchor in the port till inspected by the Health Officer. Dunedin, July 2. The verdict in the inquest on the fire at M'Leod and Co's is to the effect that there is no evidence to show how it originated.
