THE PRESIDENCY.
[news of the world.] Greeley and Davis have been nominated for the Presidency ; Grant will be nominated ; the Revenue Reformers, threaten to call a National Convention; the Democrats may make a separate nomination,. and the list is not yet full. The Temperance men, controlling 150,000 votes, are also threatening to make . a separate nomination. They held a National Convention in Columbus, Ohio, in February last, and offered the nomination to Greeley,. who^ refused it, and now the Sacramento Record, which speaks as if it knew,; says they will not support him, nor will they support Grant, though most of them are Republicans. Incidentally, we remark that an attachment to whisky seems to be still one of the time-honored principles of the Democracy. The National Temperance Organization may make its nominations, but we do not believe it can control 150j000 nor even 15,000 votes ; and the Labor Reformers and the Revenue Reformers will not do much better. Two Presidential candidates are as many as the country can carry with any satisfaction to the people.
