The force of Carlists which entered Spain from Portugal have been driven back by the Government troops. Castella, Margarey, and Uiqueras, have ~ published manifestoes repudiating both , Carlos and King Amadous, and Baying that Republicans must prepare for combat. • , ■-;..; ,;•;,;• ;• News have been" received that tho > forces of General Letoma defeated 5000 Carlists at Manaria, capturing many prisoners.. The whereabouts ,of Carlos remains a # mystery — that he has escaped from Spain: > is certain. _ ■ •.-.-.- - The Cortes have passed a Bill to bring ( • up the effective force of the' regular army ■ of Spain to 80,000 men. The Government has officially announced that the insurrectionists of the province of Biscay are. breaking up. Many are deserting aud surrendering to, the Government.
