The heavy fall of snow which took place , last Thursday night has done considerable damage in this district, tiiaffic being an* tirely stopped ; and in all direr^j,^ huge trees, that had stood for age^are lying shattered into fragments, succumbing to the heavy weight they had to bear. ■Thebushhas-becbniealmosfimpreg^ablet Nothing presents itself to the traveller but broken branches and one vast sheet of white, as far as the eye can reach.: The depth of snow on the ranges was fully 2ft. Such a fall has not been witnessed for the last five years. The extent of damage suffered by the miners is not yet fully l^nown, but it is beljeyed. thgre has, beefy a good deal of property that haatakee years to complete, entirely ruined. Swn Hall. and party will- be severe- sufferers ; their flumingj which crossed 'Rough and Tumble Gully, being greatly damaged. Those miners who live in the back gullies have had to put up with a scarcity of provisions, as it was impossible to pack any out till the tracks are cleared. Fortunately no serious accidents are yet reported, but a good many. narrow escapes are spoken of. The Messrs Corbett, of Rough and Tumble, narrowly .escaped, with.their lives, two immense trees having falierialongside their hut. _ : >
