Bluff, June 10. When the steamer Rangitoto was just leaving, a man was found hanging by a rope to the gangway. He was quite dead. There was found in his pocketbook a draft in favor of John Rodnon, for L 294, He is unknown on board the steamer. Wellington, June 10. Bishop Viard's funeral took place yesterday, and was largely attended. The procession included Band, Fire Brigade, Schools, Young Men's Christian Association, ladies and girls in mourning, Sisters of Mercy, sixty girls in half mourning, priests, bishops, pall-bearers, one hundred mourners, Mayor, City Council, citizens, Maoris, and Governor's carriage. Bishop Moran preached funeral oration, The coffin was lowered into the vault, and fully 1500 spectators were in the Cathedral. Mr Gillon has been appointed manager of Mr Vogel's. new Press Telegraphic Agency, at a salary of Ll per day, with a year's engagement. The agreement wa3 signed by Yogel and Reeves. It is understood that Mr Harrison, of the Independent, is to be a managing director, at a salary of LSO a year. Messrs Yogel and Reeves being also directors. These salaries are in addition to LJjOO-a year to be paid to the Australian Associated Press. Nelson, June 10. , The Evening Mail, in a lengthy and temperate article, says that the case against O'Conor has been made out only too clearly, and there is no room whatever to doubt that when he went to the Land Office he knew the intentions of the Committee, and had learned those intentions in the Committee-room, as member for Westport. The Mail adds that either Messrs Kynnersley, Shephard, Barnicoat, Reid, Maomahon, and Tarrant are guilty of wilfully and wickedly conspiring to wrong O'Conor, or O'Conor is guilty of utter, entire, and wilful falsehood. The Mail concludes by saying that O'Conor's conduct throughout this Bcaudalous affair demands the severest reprobation, not only of his fellow Councillors, but of the entire New Zealand .public, Wellington, June 10. The Post says it is rumored that- the son of Mr Redwood, of Nelson, will probably be appointed to the Roman Catholic Bishopric, of Wellington. The only remaining Mormon proceeded to San Francisco per Nebraska yesterday. None remain.
