The excitement at St. Albans, Canterbury, on the ghost question, has at last subsided. His ghoatsbip Las evidently been effectually laid, for it is now a considerable time since any occurrences were recorded by those who first originated the startling rumours. It may be that the efforts made by a considerable number of persons resident in tbe vicinity to unravel the mystery had the result of giving a wholesome fright to some one who had been attempting a practical joke, but it is to be regretted that this should have occurred before some clue had been obtained to the joker.
