Christchukch. — The Lyttelton Times of Saturday last reports :— Breadstuff* have been very firm during the past fertnielit. several large lines of wheat having been placed ex store at ss. Stocks, however, are light, otherwise this extreme price could not be sustained Several large buyers are in this market at 4a 9d to 4s lOd, but holders will not quit at these figures. Oats do not improve, as Melbourne advices continue to report a weak market. Barley is in excellent demand, nt quotations ranging from 4a lid to si. Butter is in steady request, at 8d to B|d, with a firm market. Cheese also continues in excellent request, at , 4 id. Potatoes are now offering freely, at L 4 to L 5 per ton. flams and bacon are in good supply, at late quotations.
